Tree of Life Ministries recently held its annual summer giveaway event to help Loudoun families get a proper start to the school year. Residents from Purcellville, Leesburg, and sterling received free backpacks, school supplies, clothing, furniture, haircuts, and more. This year, the nonprofit had more than a thousand attendees and gave out 990 backpacks filled with school supplies. Additionally, 458 individuals received clothing. This was all made possible by an army of 275 volunteers and the contributions of numerous local churches and businesses. Personal donations of clothing, furniture, backpacks, supplies, and more, from the Loudoun community also made this a success.
Leesburg
In Leesburg, on August 12th, 500 attendees came out to Crossroads Baptist Church for a Back-to-School Fiesta providing free backpacks, food, activities, live music, and gospel presentations. This event was in partnership with One Hope Ministries and had volunteers from 10 churches in the Leesburg area. Local churches donated to 350 students.
Purcellville
Volunteers at Purcellville Baptist Church provided free clothing to 458 individuals, as well as handed out 469 backpacks with school supplies. The Purcellville event also shared the gospel with 300 people, gave free furniture to 30 families, provided 30 free haircuts, and handed out dental kits to 345 children.
Sterling
At the event at Sterling Park Baptist Church, 169 backpacks filled with school supplies were handed out. Groceries and fun activities for the children in attendance were also available.
More about Tree of Life Ministries

This support includes groceries, free meals, financial assistance for rent and utilities, English classes, transitional housing, programs for individuals with disabilities and more. The annual summer giveaways are an opportunity for the nonprofit to reach out to a wider range of families in need as they prepare for a new school year. Their hope is that everyone who attends is blessed by these events and receives information about how Tree of Life can serve them if they should have future needs.
