Annual Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition Recognizes Top Three Teams

Ten teams presented their projects virtually for cash prizes in the 11th annual Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition on March 25.

The competition is in partnership with the Youth Advisory Council, Loudoun County Public Schools and Loudoun County Public Library. 

In first place, was team Gift of Giving from Eagle Ridge Middle School. This project helps children from low-income families in Loudoun County through fundraising and a school supply drive. The first place prize was $1,000.

Brayden’s Bud from Woodgrove High School received second place. The project supports pediatric patients and siblings. The second place cash prize was $750.

Lastly, team Kouslr from Independence High School earned third place. This project addresses the historic shortage of school counselors and the lack of resources available to high school students. The intent is to help students with various aspects of the high school experience, including course selection. This team earned $500.

Teams 4-10 each received $100 for making it to the top ten out of the 49 competing at this year’s event.

ABOUT Loudoun Youth, Inc.

Loudoun Youth, Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in April 2005. The mission of the organization is to coordinate community resources to assist in the development of youth programs and to create leadership opportunities for young people.  They support and develop programs that provide Loudoun teens positive out-of-school activities in safe environments helping them to become confident and contributing members of the community.
