2nd annual golf tournament to raise funds to support teen suicide prevention

Ryan Bartel Foundation, a Loudoun County-based nonprofit whose mission is to prevent youth suicide, has opened registration for its 2nd Annual Fairways for Hope Golf Tournament. The event will be held on Thursday, June 9 at Loudoun Golf & Country Club.

The Foundation’s goal is to raise at least $30K to benefit its suicide prevention programs. These programs educate teens and provide activities that support and empower youth, families and the community at-large through acceptance, connection, resiliency and hope. Tickets will also be available to the Fairways for Hope cookout following the tournament.

“Our country is experiencing a mental health state of emergency, and teen suicide attempts and suicides are at an all-time high. Our region is no different, so in response, we’re ramping up our efforts to reach more teens with our programs,” said Suzie Bartel, Founder of Ryan Bartel Foundation. This golf tournament will raise much-needed funds to support those efforts,” she added.

The tournament is a full day, including:

  • 18 holes of golf; contests and games
  • raffle items such as stay and plays, getaways, and more
  • lunch and drinks on the course
  • cookout and awards presentation

Throughout the day attendees are reminded of the importance of suicide prevention awareness and Ryan Bartel Foundation’s prevention programs. Family memorials to those lost to suicide in this community are displayed throughout the course to remember the young lives lost to suicide.

“The memorial signs placed at each hole reminded me how critical suicide prevention awareness is to show people that there is always hope,” said Fairways for Hope 2021 golfer and supporter Ronnie Price.

Furthermore, the memorial signs also remind patrons the importance of their participation in the day’s event, according to Dana Chapman, a Fairways for Hope supporter.
