A local businesswoman is uplifting spirits of seniors living at long-term care facilities with the community’s help.

Carol Turman is the owner of Dee Vinchey Entertainment and has joined a nationwide “adopt-a-grandparent” campaign.  She is delivering balloons to seniors in Loudoun and Fairfax counties with the help of community sponsors. She said she felt compelled to uplift these seniors who’ve been in isolation during this pandemic.

“We want our local adults in long-term care facilities to feel the love even if they can’t be with their loved ones,” said Turman. “A balloon is the significance of love, happiness, friendship, gratitude, enthusiasm, spread of smile, liveliness, fun, and much more.”

Turman delivered balloon buddies recently to a Lovettsville facility and two in Leesburg. She received many messages expressing gratitude from staff who shared how the balloons brought happiness to their residents. Turman would like to create more joyful moments to the elderly through community sponsorship.

“There are thousands of adults in long-term care facilities in Loudoun County and we would like to provide every one of them with a balloon buddy, but we need your support in order to reach our goal,” she said.

For just $29.99 you can send a balloon buddy to an adult in a long-term care facility.  Businesses can also support multiple adults or an entire home. The balloon bundles are delivered with a tag that features the sponsor’s name or business and a personal message.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to show your support for local adults in long term care facilities but also local small business,” said Turman.
