Before heading down the bunny trail, the Easter Bunny has been hopping around a special garden in a Leesburg community. He even hid Easter eggs among the rainbow painted river rocks for children to hunt and enjoy.
If you visit the kindness rocks garden in Potomac Crossing, you too may catch the Easter Bunny hiding behind trees before coming out to say hello.
This is another kind gesture of Margie Hunter who started the kindness rocks garden in August as a way to spread joy and positivity throughout the community. Earlier this year, she added the rainbow tree, in which she knitted rainbow squares to cover the bark and limbs. Margie always seems to be thinking up new ways to brighten her garden that began as a kindness project. Since adding the colorful tree, she’s enhanced the garden with a rainbow bench that’s covered with inspiring messages and quotes. It’s truly the perfect place to pause and reflect.
The Kindness Rocks Project
The Kindness Rocks Project, as labeled on the sign that greets guests, invites visitors to take a rock when you need one, share one with a friend who needs some inspiration, or leave one for another. You can choose from any of the brightly painted rocks (that Margie paints) to take home and bring back. If you don’t know what exactly to paint, there’s cues for you on labeled tins that hang along the fence of the river rocks. There’s everything from “do something unexpected” to “be silly.”
In an earlier interview, Margie shared that her favorite message she has written is, “the noblest art is that of making others happy.”
It certainly shows.
Recently I visited with my family after only seeing photographs. We had no idea the Easter bunny would be making an appearance. It was truly a magical experience for my three sons. Thank you Margie Hunter for making our day magical — and for so many others with your garden gem.
Think about for a moment what a wonderful act of kindness this is in our community. Margie is waking up day after day with a mission to spread kindness. As so many others are doing activities this week before Easter, Margie has chose to give her time to dress up in an Easter bunny costume and put out eggs for children to spread happiness to others. She’s not paid to do it, but is just following her heart.
That’s magically kind.
The Easter Bunny will be around all weekend! And he brought lots more eggs to share!
