The June issue of People Magazine features six high school seniors committed to helping their communities across the nation. One of the lucky honorees just so happens to be a 17-year-old from Broad Run High School in Ashburn.
Shreyaa Venkat has been on a mission to make the world better through kindness. Four years ago, she and her younger sister, Esha, cofounded NEST4US, a nonprofit that spreads kindness in the community through various actions.
“We don’t just feed people. We care for them,” Shreyaa told People. “We sit down and hear their stories. It makes them feel loved.”
NEST4US is continuing to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They’re serving the local homeless, low-income families, and underprivileged kids through their Backpack Buddies program. They’re assembling care packages filled with toiletries and nonperishable food items and offering virtual tutoring services for kids.
Shreyaa will attend Georgetown University in the fall to study Global Healthcare.
The June issue of People Magazine is out now.
