The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has partnered with GotSneakers to help raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving Loudoun (MADD). Adult and children sneakers can be donated. THE LCSO asks that they be tied together and brought to one of the LCSO stations on or before March 31, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The LCSO will accept all styles and conditions of sneakers. After the sneakers are collected, GotSneakers will process and distribute these sneakers around the world specifically within impoverished nations using micro-enterprise partners helping those in need. The sneakers that are damaged are processed and ground into surfaces for playgrounds, gym floors, tracks, outdoor courts, and synthetic turfs.

Get the Tea is a new digital talk show created and hosted by Buta Biberaj. The show features noteworthy and diverse guests who are amplifying community issues, and focuses on creating a forum for increased access to critical information that our communities need to improve their daily lives. Get the Tea aims to be inclusive, and feature real people with real experiences who discuss issues that impact our families and communities. On Thursdays, Bluemont Vineyard hosts “Love Local Night” with a purpose to spark a season of giving back to charities in Loudoun County.
Love Local guests are invited on the patio for a countdown to the illumination of the lights with a toast to support HeroHomes. The organization focuses on building houses, jobs, and communities for those who have fought for the preservation of freedom and democracy for others. They provide the opportunity for disabled veterans to rejoin society with the security and pride of homeownership.
Guests looking to support HeroHomes but are not able to be onsite for the profit-share night are invited to join virtually at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15.00 per guest and include a welcome beverage.

On Sunday, Oct. 8, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 37018 Glendale Street in Purcellville, is hosting their annual Bless the Pets event in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi, nature’s saint. This special service will be at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. The community is invited to bring their animal friends of all sizes to be blessed.
“This annual event is an opportunity for church members and community friends to remember St. Francis’ devotion to God’s creatures and bless those that are such a blessing to us,” said Father Tom Simmons, of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Rescue groups PetConnect and HART will have a several animals available to adopt and provide loving homes to these deserving creatures.
Please be sure that small animals are in a proper carrier and large or potentially quarrelsome animals are properly restrained.
