Session Description: : Parents and guardians of adolescent and young adult children who abuse substances experience an inordinate amount of stress. Often times they do not know what to do to help their substance abusing adolescent or young adult child and will typically seek advice from well-meaning family members and even mental health providers that may not be helpful or is ineffective. This presentation will provide parents and guardians practical, actionable steps for building resilience as they assist their substance abusing teen or young adult.
Session: If Addiction is a Disease, What Can We Do About It?

Session Description: Could addiction be a disease? How do we know? Is there a way to cure or manage the disease? What are the best resources and treatments? By the end of this session, you’ll be able to define why addiction is more than moral failing, identify the role of dopamine in addiction and learn how addiction tricks the brain into choosing the drug of choice over other survival needs.

Get the Tea is a new digital talk show created and hosted by Buta Biberaj. The show features noteworthy and diverse guests who are amplifying community issues, and focuses on creating a forum for increased access to critical information that our communities need to improve their daily lives. Friday, June 11, 2021, 12-2PM, join The Silence No More movement as we honor and recognize survivors of domestic violence for their courage, strength, and perseverance and the individual support systems that are there long before police, restraining orders and court systems.
The Silence No More Movement is designed not to erase the past. But more importantly, to recognize the strength of a survivor and the support systems that got them there. It’s through experience, determination, passion, resilience, selflessness, and love that these individuals circle back to help change the mindset of current victims with hope for progress, justice, and healing.
The event will include remarks from the Loudoun County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and local supporters of The Silence No More Movement.
The goal is for attendees to feel from listening, be uplifted from the stories of survival, and feel empowered to join the fight to guarantee that abuse will not continue to happen every 20 seconds in our nation.
This is a public event. RSVP is required.

Celebrate the beginning of spring in the historic Morven Park gardens with games, crafts, and our popular egg roll down the Davis Mansion lawn. This year we’re offering something better than a traditional egg hunt! We’re setting up Hippity Hop Stops featuring crafts and activities for all ages. The VIP ribbon cutting will be at 10 AM.

A Taste For History: Loudoun Museum Fundraiser
The Loudoun Museum’s annual fundraiser A Taste For History is an evening for celebrating history while enjoying a five-course meal with guided wine pairings and silent and paddle auctions.
All proceeds will benefit the Loudoun Museum, helping the nonprofit to bring history and community together as they preserve, explore, and engage people around Loudoun County history.
The evening will include:
5-course dinner with pairings, featuring wines from Doukenie, Stone Tower, and Amlés wineries.
A display of Loudoun Museum’s “Vintage Pursuits” exhibit on the history of Virginia wine.
Reflections on the Museum’s past and future by Executive Director Carrie Christoffersen.
Silent and live paddle auction of items ranging from art to experiences.
On Sunday, Oct. 8, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 37018 Glendale Street in Purcellville, is hosting their annual Bless the Pets event in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi, nature’s saint. This special service will be at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. The community is invited to bring their animal friends of all sizes to be blessed.
“This annual event is an opportunity for church members and community friends to remember St. Francis’ devotion to God’s creatures and bless those that are such a blessing to us,” said Father Tom Simmons, of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Rescue groups PetConnect and HART will have a several animals available to adopt and provide loving homes to these deserving creatures.
Please be sure that small animals are in a proper carrier and large or potentially quarrelsome animals are properly restrained.
