The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has partnered with GotSneakers to help raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving Loudoun (MADD). Adult and children sneakers can be donated. THE LCSO asks that they be tied together and brought to one of the LCSO stations on or before March 31, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The LCSO will accept all styles and conditions of sneakers. After the sneakers are collected, GotSneakers will process and distribute these sneakers around the world specifically within impoverished nations using micro-enterprise partners helping those in need. The sneakers that are damaged are processed and ground into surfaces for playgrounds, gym floors, tracks, outdoor courts, and synthetic turfs.

Join NEST for a free virtual workshop on “Samurai Mindset Masterclass” presented by motivational speaker, Uma Panch from Sydney, Australia! All attendees will receive e-certificates for the workshop. Join NEST4US for a service project in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The nonprofit will host “Nourish 2 Flourish” a zero-hunger initiative where volunteers will pack and provide grocery bags for people facing food insecurity.
Brighten the day of families in need with these bags, giving them nourishment and hope! The nonprofit will join thousands of Americans across the country who will be celebrating the national holiday honoring the life and work of Dr. King by doing service in their communities.

This year we’re offering something better than a traditional egg hunt! We’re setting up Hippity Hop Stops featuring crafts and activities for all ages. Get your Hop Stop Passport stamped as you make your way through our gardens, posing for Instagrammable moments along the way, and collect candy and goodies. Be sure to meet rabbits from the 4H Leaps and Squeaks Rabbit Club and take your own family photo with the Easter Bunny.
Celebrate the holidays and get your groove on with the Jingle Bell Rock & Run. Run the races or bring your little ones for the 1-Mile Jammie Jingle! Then, enjoy loads of fun at the after party. On Sunday, Oct. 8, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 37018 Glendale Street in Purcellville, is hosting their annual Bless the Pets event in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi, nature’s saint. This special service will be at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. The community is invited to bring their animal friends of all sizes to be blessed.
“This annual event is an opportunity for church members and community friends to remember St. Francis’ devotion to God’s creatures and bless those that are such a blessing to us,” said Father Tom Simmons, of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Rescue groups PetConnect and HART will have a several animals available to adopt and provide loving homes to these deserving creatures.
Please be sure that small animals are in a proper carrier and large or potentially quarrelsome animals are properly restrained.
