Local nonprofits are in need of help more than ever. Fortunately, the shelves at Loudoun Hunger Relief are fuller as of Dec. 10, thanks to truckloads of food donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Loudoun Hunger Relief received a shipment of butter and cheese on Thursday, as part of a nearly 80,000 pound food order that arrived in Northern Virginia for area food banks from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ central storehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah. The value of the food items is in excess of $144,000.

Jennifer Montgomery, the Executive Director for Loudoun Hunger Relief, said demand has drastically increased in Loudoun County since the start of the pandemic.

“This food will help many local families who are struggling right now,” she said. “We are so grateful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their support.”

Loudoun Hunger is open to receive donations six days a week at the Leesburg pantry location.
