Loudoun County, VA (April 11, 2023) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Leesburg Police Department, Middleburg Police Department, and the Purcellville Police Department have once again partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the “Take-Back” initiative that seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Loudoun County residents can discard potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at seven sites in the county:
- LCSO Ashburn Station – 20272 Savin Hill Drive, Ashburn (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- LCSO Dulles South Public Safety Center – 25216 Loudoun County Parkway, South Riding (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- LCSO Eastern Loudoun Sheriff’s Station – 46620 East Frederick Drive, Sterling (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- LCSO Western Loudoun Station – 47 W. Loudoun Street, Round Hill (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Town of Leesburg Police Department – 65 Plaza Street, NE, Leesburg (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Middleburg Police Department – 10 W. Marshall Street, Middleburg (Town Hall) (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Purcellville Police Department – 221 S. Nursery Avenue, Purcellville (Town Hall) (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Prescription medications, Over-The-Counter Medications, Medical Samples, Pet Medications, Vape Pens/E-Cigarettes (battery must be removed).
NON-ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Needles, Epi-Pens, Thermometers, Batteries, IV Bags, Blood or Infectious Waste, Liquids, Gels, or Sprays.
Since the inception of the DEA take-back program in 2010, over 17,000 pounds of unwanted and unused prescription medications have been collected in Loudoun County.
