Tested Positive for COVID-19? Consider Donating Blood to Help Others Recover

Inova Health System is collecting blood from patients who have recovered from COVID-19 to help those continuing to fight the illness. It is part of a nationwide effort to collect and provide convalescent plasma donations, which have antibodies that can be used treat those who are battling it.

“Recovered COVID-19 patients have plasma in their blood that should be rich in immunoglobulins that may be helpful to patients who are actively fighting a COVID-19 infection,” Inova states on its website.

If you have recovered from COVID-19 and think you may be a candidate for a plasma donation, you can email covid19_plasma@inova.org or visit https://www.inovablood.org/covid19plasma.

For those who haven’t recovered from COVID-19, you can still help. Local hospitals are seeking blood donors. To read about the precautionary measures being taken, click here.
