After 15 years of hard work and thoughtful planning, Williams Gap Vineyard will open to the public on Friday, April 23rd. Williams Gap Vineyard is a charming environment for weekend tastings and all types of celebrations.

Thirty-five acres of the property is under vine with ideal soils and a climate suited for 10 varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot grapes. For more than a decade, Williams Gap Vineyard operated as a vineyard and sold its grapes to local wineries. In 2019, vineyard owner Jack Sexton began producing his own wine with the help of winemaker Rob Cox.

“I’m passionate about growing exceptional grapes and creating high quality wine,” said Sexton. “Being a vineyard first really makes us unique and sets us apart from other wineries.”

Tasting Room Manager, Bridgette Smith, says the team is excited about sharing this beautiful property with guests and providing them with an incredible visit. “We will offer a variety of experiences including elevated seated tastings, wine flights, and more.”

The purpose of the Tasting Room will be to educate visitors about William Gap Vineyard wines, Virginia winemaking, vineyard practices and offer tastings of the best wines Virginia has to offer.  The Tasting Room will be open to the public from noon to 7 p.m. Friday – Sunday and on Mondays that are a holiday. Reservations are not required but are highly recommended. For more information or to make a reservation, please call 540-440-1933.
