Store shelves have been wiped clean of hand sanitizer products, but soon you can purchase from your local brewery.
Old Ox Brewery, a family owned and operated brewery with locations in Ashburn and Middleburg, has recently switched gears to brew hand sanitizer labeled OOBe Safe. It’s a production trend that others have switched to in Loudoun as well.
The announcement came Tuesday evening on Old Ox Brewery’s social media pages.
In the announcement, Old Ox Brewery said they would be donating 25 percent of its production of hand sanitizer to first responders and non-profits. In addition to donations, they’ll be selling 4oz bottles for $6 through the website, which goes live April 15 at 8PM.
“We have distilled this sanitizer from isopropyl alcohol then bottled and labeled it in our warehouse,” said owner Chris Burns.
The brewery has already delivered a shipment of 14o gallons of OOBe Safe Hand Sanitizer to a local grocery chain partner.
“This is a project we hope to continue as it has gained a lot of traction over the last couple days,” said Burns. “Our brewery is inspired by family and the community that has shown us so much support over the past several years. During the unprecedented time of crisis, we have focused our efforts on doing everything we can to uplift and inspire the people who have held us up as a small business for so long.”
Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Old Ox Brewery has been finding creative ways to serve the community— including fun purchasing options for customers. As one example, you can purchase a beer delivery from a smiling blue shark, better known as “Left Shark,” the breakout star of Katy Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl halftime show for $20.
