Catoctin Creek Distillery has been hard at work to make a difference in its community, by utilizing what it already has— alcohol. Rather than being used for Catoctin Creek’s signature Roundstone Rye and Rabble Rouse, alcohol is being used for hand sanitizer production.

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, employees have been filling bottles, labeling, boxing and creating cases of hand sanitizer within the old-brick structure on Purcellville’s Main Street. The bottles are for purchase and also donated to those in need.

The next public purchase of sanitizer is Friday, April 17 at 9AM, according to Catoctin Creek Distillery’s website. There will be at least 1,000 bottles available of 6oz portions at the Purcellville location. Purchases are limited to six per family.

The suggested price is $9.49 per bottle, which covers costs and the salaries of employees. If you choose to leave a gratuity, it will go 100% to charity.

As the website states, “Any proceeds left over at the end of all this, plus the donations we’ve received, will go to local charity organizations including hospitality workers and first responders who have been hardest hit by COVID-19.”

The distillery has been keeping customers informed on social media in addition to their website.

The community is also showing its love in return. Catoctin Creek Distillery shared that one of its hand sanitizer customers gave them a Federal Air Marshal Service patch in appreciation.
